Alecia McMillian has been selected as the new principal of Walnut Bend Elementary. Ms. McMillian started her educational career as a first through third grade Montessori teacher at Anderson Academy in Aldine ISD. She joined Houston ISD in 2013 as the Magnet Coordinator at Dodson Montessori and then was assistant principal at Daily Elementary for 7 years. She most recently served as the assistant principal at Shearn Elementary. Ms. McMillian was named HISD’s 2022 Elementary Assistant Principal of the Year. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Southern A&M University and a master’s degree in Education Administration from Sam Houston State University.
