Dear HISD Teachers: Thank you for your commitment to finishing the 23-24 school year strong. We know you’re all focused on the last five weeks of instruction, supporting your students to do well on assessments, and looking forward to the summer break to recharge before we jump into the 24-25 academic year. One of the most critical parts of preparing for the next school year is our work to renew contracts, process transfers, and finalize salaries for all returning teachers. To ensure you have clear visibility into our anticipated timeline, we wanted to share the following information:
We’d also like to note a few edits to the Compensation Plan. Due to budget constraints, we cannot offer the $1000 or $2000 retention incentives originally included in the Compensation Plan. We have also restored stipends for debate coaching that were omitted in error. Finally, as a reminder, you may still apply to 2024 summer school positions through May 3rd, and teachers are eligible to receive up to $8,000. Please do not hesitate to reach out to any of the Human Resources Departments below:
