What is the Houston Education Advocacy Representatives (H.E.A.R.)?
H.E.A.R. is a volunteer group of business and community leaders, parents, teachers, principals, retired educators, and others. H.E.A.R. works to advance the district’s priorities at the local, state, and federal levels of government. In 2019, H.E.A.R. successfully advocated for much needed revisions to the state's public school finance system. For more information, visit www.houstonisd.org/HEAR.
Criteria: Applications to participate on H.E.A.R. are accepted on a rolling basis. All supporters of HISD and public education are encouraged to apply. We are seeking engaged and active community leaders with a proven ability to “move the needle” with elected officials across Texas. We are also seeking individuals with a true passion for student achievement, who might not have previous advocacy experience.
