    Acosta

My name is Ava Longs, and I am very delighted to join the Marshall Courageous Catamounts Team.

This is my first year as a classroom teacher, but I have experience in education.  I worked in Aldine Independent School District as a Specialized Learning Aide (SLC), and I was also a Senior Academic Tutor at Scarborough Elementary, which is a part of the Houston Independent District.

I have a passion for educating students who may need extra help, require assistance, have a unique learning style, or just need some extra TLC.  That is why I accepted the position as the new Behavioral Support Classroom teacher, and I believe the best is yet to come for all of our students and staff!  I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Sam Houston State University.

I also earned a Master’s Degree from the same school in Curriculum and Instruction from their College of Education. I will do all I can to create a safe and positive learning environment for the students, and add value to our campus.  My goal is for all of my students to reach their highest level of academic achievement that they are capable of.  When I’m away from school I enjoy going to concerts, musicals, and plays.

I love cooking new recipes for my friends and my 6’4 son, whenever I can get him to come over.  I am also a licensed cosmetologist for the past 25 years, and I still enjoy making people more beautiful with my skills and talent.
