Lauren Mailhiot, principal of DeAnda Elementary, has a stellar educational background. Her career began in 2009, when she served as a 5th grade teacher at Neff Elementary through the Teach for America program. Prior to being named principal, Ms. Mailhiot served as the assistant principal at DeAnda. Mailhiot graduated from The University of Michigan, and went on to earn her master's degree in education from The University of Houston.
Mailhiot's first year as the principal of DeAnda Elementary was a year of unprecedented success. On the STAAR state test, the school received all six possible distinctions. Further, for the first time in DeAnda history reading scores across the grade levels saw at least 80 percent of students garner a passing score; the school won numerous other awards as well. Principal Mailhiot is looking forward to continuing this unbridled success going into her second year and well beyond.
