Grades: College vs. High School
If a student is taking an HCC class taught by an HCC professor (that is not an HISD employee) you will notice there is no grade on progress reports or report cards. We get final grade from HCC and input straight to transcript.
If a class is dual credit, all grades (including those on report card and progress reports) are really like progress reports the entire time. The purpose of the one grade you see is to give you a snapshot of how student is doing.
However, it is very important you do not rely on this grade as anything more than a snapshot this moment in time. Please review course syllabus which is more telling of how final grade will be calculated. In some cases, HCC final exam carries significant weight when determining final HCC grade. Professors are bound by policies set forth by their department chairs and deans.
Once East ECHS receives final HCC grade, it will be posted to transcript.
Please know we use the following table to assign grades on high school from HCC grade. Also, be advised students receive quality GPA points for all dual credit courses.
