Dear HISD Families and Community,
We are excited to welcome you back for the 2020-21 school year!
We have been working diligently to identify ways to continue providing quality education while ensuring the health and safety of our students, staff, and families remains the top priority.
Considering the current challenges surrounding the COVID-19 health crisis, HISD will utilize a hybrid model of virtual and optional in-person instruction for the fall semester.
The timeline for virtual and in-person learning is as follows:
- The school year will start as scheduled on Monday, Aug. 24, with all classes held virtually for the first two weeks. Students will use the HISD @ H.O.M.E. learning platform to access classes and resources during this time.
- Beginning Monday, Sept. 14, students will begin a three-week transition to in-person classroom instruction, with all students able to return to classrooms by Monday, Oct. 5.
- Families may choose to continue virtual instruction for their children through the remainder of the fall semester.
Please know we did not make these decisions lightly. We believe this is the best course going forward to ensure both the educational success of our students and the health and safety of our school communities.
You can use this page as a guide to access virtual learning and other resources offered by the district.
Thank you for your continued patience, support, and flexibility as we continue to navigate this pandemic together, as a district.
Together, we will reconnect safely and return stronger.
We look forward to a safe and productive school year!
