Mr. Michael A. Johnson

I am very excited to begin the 2021-2022 school year here at Challenge Early College High School! My wife and I made the move to Houston from Mississippi last summer. This is my 12th year in education, and 2nd year at Challenge ECHS where I teach AP Computer Science Principles.

My goal this year is to build new relationships with my students, and grow our Computer Science program at CECHS. I plan to do this by collaborating with learners to develop Computational Thinking Skills in order to address, work through, and solve complex problems. Together we'll learn through a variety of engaging and challenging Project-Based Coding & STEM activities!

My background and experience is in Computer Applications, Career & Technical Education, and Instructional Technology. Courses that I have previously taught include: Senior Project, Capstone, Graphic Design I & II, Web Design & Media Rich Content, Introduction to Information Technology, Information & Communication Technology I & II and Personal Finance. I've also served as as a Librarian / Media Specialist in support of literacy and technology integration initiatives.

Additionally, it has been my great honor and pleasure to work with so many awesome students and great educators through the Technology Student Association Program. Last year, we established a new TSA Chapter (#2998) at Challenge ECHS. My previous chapters were Florence High School (MS) and Rowan Middle School (MS).
