Mr. Haulcy
Mr. Sulaimon L. Haulcy Sr. is a Career and Technical Education Teacher at Holland Middle School in Houston, Texas, where he has supported the mentoring and counseling of students and worked in the public service field for the last twenty-five years. Haulcy has experience teaching students in the practice of using computer applications and coding. Recent activities include working with the robotics teacher to start the school’s first drone program, working with elementary students in the STEM afterschool program and coaching drone club students. Haulcy is a member of the Southeastern Consortium for Minorities in Engineering (SECME), which includes research-based strategies to address the barriers to STEM majors and careers for minorities and female students. These include; STEM professional development and classroom resources for teachers, university partners committed to supporting teachers, early engagement of K-12 students, facilitating career-relevant STEM competitions and university level/STEM industry mentors and coaches supporting K-12 competitions and projects. Haulcy has entered students in several drone competitions with the assistance of a partnership with Workshop Houston and the Harris County Department of Education. His focus area is not only to teach students about STEM but to educate them about the vast importance of obtaining higher minority representation in STEM careers.

Hello, I am Ms. Cleopatra Vaughn and I have been an educator at Holland MS for 3 years. I am currently obtaining my Master's degree in Psychology Pre-counseling at Capella University. I am passionate about all things STEAM! Increasing my experience in education, has allowed me to apply my skills in content creation with Drones and Robotics. As a fellow alumni student of HMS, being a part of the team feels like home. Gooooo Cougars!
