  • Elementary School Needs Assessment

Posted by Counselor: H. Liu on 9/6/2022

    Dear Parents,

I hope all is well. In a week or two, our school will be conducting a NEEDS assessment for all of our students. The NEEDS assessment covers questions about a student’s social, emotional and academic understanding. With this data, our teachers and myself (school counselor) can have a better understanding of what our students’ need. My counseling guidance program will also be based on our students’ answers. I’m reaching out to the counseling department for a middle school version. If not, they’ll be taking the 2nd-5th grade version or the PK-1st version. Embedded in the links inserted, are the assessments. If you would not like your child/children to conduct this assessment, please email me privately at hliu@houstonisd.org.

Thank you and I hope you have a wonderful day!

    Sincerely,

    H. Liu

  • Hearts for Heart! Lunch Recognition

Posted by Ms. H. Liu on 8/28/2022

    Dear Parents,

My name is H. Liu, feel free to call me Alice. It’s an honor to be a school counselor for your children this year! Along with many MIMS characters, I would like to start with respect. Therefore, I started a year-long incentive system across grade levels. PreK- 5th grade students who are quiet during dismissal will receive a heart. Middle schoolers will receive a heart from their teachers during transition. If you see your child with a pink heart, remind them to write their full name and grade level and drop it in the drawing box during lunch. I will draw three names per grade level and the drawn students can pick a gift from the treasure box. Eventually it’ll be tied in with Social Emotional Learning lessons. For example: the posing question would be something like: Respect in the (location in school) looks like… Students will drop their response in the drawing box to be drawn. Don’t be discouraged if your child haven’t receive a heart yet, because it’s coming! Feel free to reach me at hliu@houstonisd.org. I wish everyone an awesome year!

  • Parent Lunch Fridays Update and Postponement

Posted by Admin Team on 8/25/2022
    Good morning families!

We are so happy we are back at school and to be reunited with your students for this year. There have been some questions about how we will handle Parent Lunch Fridays this year, now that COVID restrictions have been lifted we are able to proceed. However, to ensure the safety of our students and to make sure we have a system in place that will allow the most time with your scholar for the allotted time of lunch, we are not immediately starting Parent Lunch Fridays. We are finalizing safety, check-in, and check-out protocols that align with district standards and processes Post-COVID restrictions. We will release our plan to continue the lunches soon.

Please be assured that this is a top priority, and we will launch this once everything is in place. Meanwhile, please do not hesitate to reach out with questions, and follow current guidelines in place. If you arrive for lunch tomorrow or the next couple of weeks, we will have to unfortunately turn you away. Rest assured this will not be long though!

    Thank you

  • Middle School Chromebook Requirements

Posted by Mr. Tim Pyles on 8/24/2022

    Good evening Parents!

It has been amazing getting to see all of your scholars on campus and in their classrooms! I wanted to give you all an update for chromebook requirements.

If you have not attended an in person session please review this website over digital safety for parents. This explains some of the topics we will talk about with scholars this year.

    bit.ly/MIMSDS

Then you will want to fill out the paperwork. I am sending this home this and next week.

Lastly, you will pay through school pay. You can visit bit.ly/MIMSPAY and either sign in, or more easily check-out as a guest and add in your scholar's ID. If you do not know that, it is ok! I can pull up the scholar's information with the registrar.

Thank you for all that you have finished and done so far. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns:

If you cannot wait for them to re-route (for those who bus route got cancelled), Please contact HISD The Routing & Scheduling Team with your child first, last name, student ID and address.
