Verizon Innovative Learning Schools and Digital Promise

2022 - 2023 Laptop Information

  • WHAT IS VILS?

Welcome to Verizon Innovative Learning, an initiative that puts technology in the hands of students, transforming schools into innovative and exciting learning environments. The Verizon Foundation's mission is to help give millions of students the education they deserve for a brighter future.

Eighteen Houston ISD middle schools, including Paul Revere MS,  have been accepted into the Verizon Innovative Learning Schools program. After a rigorous competitive process, Houston ISD was identified by the Verizon Foundation’s non-profit partner, Digital Promise, as meeting all criteria for participation in Cohort 7 & Cohort 8.

Each VILS partner school will receive an in-kind award of Chromebooks for all students, teachers, and administrators, professional development, and digital instructional resources. Each Chromebook will be equipped with a data plan that provides “always-available” access outside of the classroom. Funds will be provided for a full-time Campus Instructional Technologist dedicated to providing teachers with the pedagogical support to effectively leverage technology in the classroom. The VILS program is for two years, with the possibility of a two-year extension in the second year. PRMS is entering into its second year in the VILS program.

    REQUIREMENTS TO RECEIVE THE CHROMEBOOK

    1. All parents/guardians need to complete the required documentation and turn it in to the school. Documents are linked here.

    2. The $25 annual usage fee must be paid. Electronic payments can be made here and cash payments can be submitted to Ms. Navarrete or Ms. Pollito, in the front office.

    3. At least one parent/guardian per household needs to complete the online PRMS Parent Digital Safety Course and submit the parent course completion form at the end.
