    Lesson Plans:

    Day 1: Rhythm and Timing (TEKS: 117.123(b)(2)(B))
    Objective: Students will review and reinforce their understanding of rhythm and timing.
     
    Warm-Up (15 minutes):
     
    Play scales and arpeggios focusing on precise rhythm.
    Rhythmic Exercises (30 minutes):
     
    Review basic rhythms.
    Introduce syncopation and irregular rhythms.
    Practice with a metronome for timing accuracy.
    Repertoire Rehearsal (15 minutes):
     
    Work on selected pieces focusing on rhythm and timing challenges.
     
    Day 2: Articulation and Phrasing (TEKS: 117.123(b)(2)(B))
    Objective: Students will develop their skills in articulation and phrasing.
     
    Warm-Up (15 minutes):
     
    Play scales with different articulation patterns (staccato, legato, accents).
    Articulation Exercises (30 minutes):
     
    Practice tonguing and slurring exercises.
    Discuss different articulation markings in sheet music.
    Repertoire Rehearsal (15 minutes):
     
    Work on selected pieces focusing on articulation and phrasing.

    Day 3: Dynamics and Expression (TEKS: 117.123(b)(2)(B))
    Objective: Students will explore dynamics and expressive techniques.
     
    Warm-Up (15 minutes):
     
    Play scales with various dynamics.
    Dynamics Exercises (30 minutes):
     
    Discuss and practice crescendos, diminuendos, and sforzandos.
    Experiment with expressive playing.
    Repertoire Rehearsal (15 minutes):
     
    Work on selected pieces, emphasizing dynamics and expression.
     
    Day 4: Ensemble Playing and Balance (TEKS: 117.123(b)(3)(C))
    Objective: Students will focus on ensemble skills and balance within the band.
     
    Warm-Up (15 minutes):
     
    Play scales and exercises in small sections (e.g., woodwinds, brass, percussion).
    Ensemble Exercises (30 minutes):
     
    Practice playing in different groupings within the band.
    Work on balance and blend between sections.
    Repertoire Rehearsal (15 minutes):
     
    Work on selected pieces, focusing on ensemble dynamics and balance.
    Day 5: Sight-Reading and Music Theory (TEKS: 117.123(b)(2)(A))
    Objective: Students will improve their sight-reading and music theory skills.
     
    Sight-Reading (30 minutes):
     
    Distribute new sheet music or sight-reading exercises.
    Encourage students to identify key signatures, time signatures, and markings.
    Music Theory (30 minutes):
     
    Review key signatures, scales, and intervals.
    Introduce or reinforce a music theory concept (e.g., chord progressions).
    Repertoire Rehearsal (15 minutes):
     

    Review and consolidate the week's repertoire.
