Lauren M. Williams, M.A. is a teacher in the School of Communications at Jack Yates High School in Houston, TX.
Ms. Williams, who is professionally known as Bobby Pen, has established space in print, digital, and broadcast journalism over the past decade.
After earning her Bachelor of Arts in Magazine Writing from Temple University in 2010, and Master’s in Communications, Journalism and Public Affairs from American University in 2013, Ms. Williams established herself professionally by crafting an independent media brand.
Ms. Williams has been documenting Black American lifestyle contributions to entertainment, business, and culture since 2010 as the Founding Editor of the award-winning Lifestyle & Entertainment website TheBobbyPen.com. Interviews with entertainers, athletes, business moguls and political figures like Angela Bassett, Snoop Dogg, Carmen Electra, Shark Tank’s Robert Herjavec, Cardi B, NBA Legend Dirk Nowitzki, Kirk Franklin, and CNN reporter Don Lemon have earned millions of views and viral moments.

Ms. Williams has worked in the newsroom as Radio One Digital Content Director, engineered and produced radio shows on Hot 97, WBLS and WLIB in New York City, and produced season 3 of FOX Corporation's "Fox Soul Black Report" at WJBK in Detroit. In addition to teaching, Ms. Williams is currently a freelance reporter for Diddy’s cable network REVOLT.
Notably, Ms. Williams has contributed to mainstream media companies with television appearances on TMZ, Cheddar News, ESSENCE, BBC NEWS, and ABC 20/20 making “Bobby Pen” a go-to culture commentator.
