The PSAT is an assessment that measures your skills in reading, writing and language, and math. HISD students take the test every year beginning in eighth grade, in preparation for the SAT. Doing well on the SAT can secure your college-admission spot AND net you a huge chunk of cash— maybe even a full ride—for school. This is huge, as college is not cheap.
If you are in 11th grade, the October PSAT is especially important. It is the test used to identify National Merit Scholars, and students who achieve this distinction receive a full-ride to the college of their choice!
Khan Academy has collaborated with CollegeBoard, the makers of the PSAT and SAT, to create FREE, online, personalized practice. Students at schools across HISD have seen point increases of up to 470 points just by spending 45 minutes to an hour a day on Khan!
Wondering how they did it? By linking their Khan Academy and CollegeBoard accounts. This pulls PSAT data from exams you have taken in the past, and focuses on what you need to work on most.
