Dear School Community,

The purpose of this communication is to provide an update on the decision regarding adjustments to the instructional programming offered at our campus for the 2020-2021 school year.

Please know that through this decision-making process we remain committed to meeting the needs of all our students and families during the upcoming school year 2020-2021 without inflicting disturbance or vital changes to the (current) programs we have been offering.

After careful review of the input received during the staff and community meetings we held, as well as from the staff and parent surveys, School Office, the Multilingual Department and our faculty have agreed to provide the following programming for the upcoming school year:

During the 2020-2021 we will reset and restructure the Bilingual Dual Language program in grades PK-3rd. We would strengthen faithful implementation of the Two-Way DL program with the commitment to continue to grow the program to 4th grade the following school year and to 5th grade for the 2022-2023 school year. Under this option 4th and 5th grade bilingual students will participate in the pre-exit phase of the Transitional Bilingual program. English Native speakers in these two grade levels will have the option to continue the Dual Language program at Love ES or Helms ES if they would desire to.

The campus will commit to offer regular English classes across grade levels if enrollment numbers permit the school to do so.

Once we can return to customary operations and we begin the 2020-2021 school year, we would like to revisit this matter. We will assemble all stakeholders to start the process of reviewing the instructional programs offered at Browning ES thoroughly.

Please know that our highest priority is to ensure that our students and families are safe and taken care of. While we adjust programming for the coming school year, the changes for the option chosen will be as minimal as possible, so that our students and families do not undergo any additional stress or hardship during these difficult times.

We want to reassure you that our teachers, administrators, and staff members share a mutual interest in working towards student achievement and doing what is best for our entire community.

Estimados Padres de Familia,

La presente es para proveerles con una actualización respecto a la decisión para los programas educativos que se ofrecerán en nuestra escuela para el próximo año escolar.

Les reiteramos que permanecemos comprometidos a satisfacer las necesidades de todos nuestros estudiantes y familias durante el ciclo escolar 2020-2021. Nuestro compromiso consiste en no modificar o hacer mayores cambios a los programas que se ofrecen en este momento en la escuela primaria Browning.

Una revisión cuidadosa de la retroalimentación y comentarios que recibimos durante las juntas con el personal de la escuela y los padres de familia, así como en las encuestas realizadas, han permitido que la oficina del Área y el departamento Multilingüe del Distrito acordaran en la decisión de ofrecer el programa bilingüe educativo como sigue:

Durante el ciclo escolar 2020-2021 el programa de lenguaje dual se reorganizará en los grados de PK-3º. La fiel implementación del Programa Dual de Doble Vía se fortalecería con el compromiso de que el programa crecería gradualmente al 4º grado el año siguiente y al 5º grado en el año 2022-2023. Bajo esta opción los estudiantes bilingües en 4º y 5º grados participarán en la fase Pre-Transicional del programa Transicional Bilingüe. Los estudiantes angloparlantes en estos dos grados tendrán la opción de continuar el programa Dual en otras escuelas como, la Primaria Love o la Primaria Helms si así lo desearan.

La escuela se compromete a abrir una clase regular de inglés en cada grado si los números de inscripción lo permiten.

Una vez que regresemos a operaciones normales, y que el año escolar haya iniciado, convocáramos a la comunidad y las partes interesadas para revisar los programas educativos de Browning nuevamente.

Es de la mayor importancia para nosotros proporcionar el mejor programa para nuestros alumnos y nuestra comunidad. Mientras reestructuramos la programación para este ciclo escolar con la opción seleccionada, les aseguramos se realizarán los menos cambios posibles con el fin de que nuestros estudiantes y familias no experimenten estrés adicional al de las circunstancias presentes.

Nuevamente les aseguramos que nuestra prioridad más importante es velar por los intereses y seguridad de nuestros estudiantes y familias.
