A K-12 HISD School meeting the needs of the community in a non-traditional setting
At Community Services, our programs address the needs of students who are confined to their homes, partner hospitals or partner agency sites and are unable to receive instruction in a typical classroom setting. Both general and special education services are available to students. Working closely with parents, home-zoned schools, physicians and partnering local agencies, Community Services teachers and staff provide appropriate instruction from kindergarten through grade twelve. Community Service programs are temporary placements based on identified medical need.
Both HISD and out of district students are eligible to apply for services in our programs. See the Community Services website for complete list of eligibility criteria by program.
Personnel at the student’s home school compile referral data and each student undergoes an individualized process to determine eligibility and placement. Partnering hospitals/agencies assist in identifying students for services. PRS students are referred through campus PRS liaisons.
