High School Bound Night

October 3, 2019

Mr. Knittle speaks at the High School Bound Night

Thursday, October 3rd was an exciting evening at Burbank Middle School! Our cafeteria was full of parents who had come to accompany their eighth graders as they applied for high school. Principal Knittle welcomed everyone and introduced our Magnet Coordinator Ms. Vasquez who presented a short video on Parent University. That is another initiative our school is sponsoring to help our parents as they support their children through their school years. After the short video, some parents stayed in the Parent University workshop, but the eighth grade parents moved to the second floor. As they left they were given a room number where to go.

Up on the second floor, our teachers and para-professionals were on hand to direct them to the appropriate rooms. Once in the rooms, there were computers and personnel available to assist parents and students with the application process. The Magnet Manager, Mr. Damon Jasso, was also on hand to talk about the great variety of Magnet Programs available to HISD students.

Many thanks to all the teachers and para-professionals who helped make this activity such a success, especially Counselor Johnson who organized the event. Enjoy the video!
