National Junior Honor Society Induction Ceremony
NJHS INDUCTION CEREMONY
The Luther Burbank Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society had its Induction Ceremony on January 19, 2024 in the school cafeteria. This traditional ceremony was opened by the school's chapter adviser, Ms. Dulce Mancillas, who welcomed our guests and introduced the officers. The officers proceeded to come in turn to the podium, where each of them would explain one the five qualities that all society members strive to possess. On the presiding table were the main Candle of Knowledge, which was already lit, as well as five other candles which represented the five qualities. After each officer finished his or her remarks, a corresponding candle would be lit, using the fire from the Candle of Knowledge. These five qualities are: Scholarship, Leadership, Character, Citizenship, and Service.
Once the lighting of the candle ceremony was concluded, our new members rose and took the pledge, led by our Magnet Coordinator, Ms. Amanda Vasquez.
Each new member received a certificate and a membership card. They also came up to the presiding table to sign the Book of Memories.
Many thanks to the Faculty Selection Committee, which was represented at the ceremony by Mr. Juan Monsiváis. Congratulations to the new NJHS Members as well as their Officers:
