Congratulations Dr. Hall - TABSE Assistant Principal of the Year

Dr. Valencia D. Hall, Assistant Principal at Booker T. Washington High School and the High School for the Engineering Professions, has been awarded the 2020 Texas Alliance of Black School Educators (TABSE) Assistant Principal of the Year award on February 21, 2020, in San Antonio, Texas at the 35th Annual TABSE State Conference. The ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL OF THE YEAR AWARD is bestowed upon assistant principals who have demonstrated outstanding leadership skills that have supported their lead principal as well as the students, staff and parents of their campus. Dr. Hall was nominated by her principal, Dr. Carlos R. Phillips, II, for demonstrating the skills necessary to support the campus and all entities involved. Dr. Hall states that “this is more than just an honor for her but a testament of the hard work that the students, staff and leadership display daily to be a successful campus.” She has only been an assistant principal for two years so achieving this award on the state level solidifies why she knows that being an educator and leader was the best career choice for her. She leads with a servant heart and passionate mindset which guides her in the support she provides daily on campus. Dr. Hall says, “I wake up each day ready to see the students and get to work on helping them graduate from Booker T. Washington High School as global graduates who know that we have prepared them for their next phase in life.” If you were to visit the campus, you would see Dr. Hall in the hallways encouraging students to get to class on time, hear her voice over the announcements providing scholarship opportunities and the daily national awareness (such as American Heart Month, Random Acts of Kindness Day, etc.), checking in on students in the college center, talking to parents, updating the campus website, and visiting classrooms. Although she may be a busy lady, the students, parents, and staff knows that she genuinely cares. Dr. Hall is also a Life Member of TABSE and local affiliate member of the Houston Area Alliance of Black School Educators (HAABSE).
