On Wednesday, October 16th, students in grades 9-10 will participate in the PSAT Test, while juniors will take the NMSQT which may qualify juniors for the National Merit Scholarship. Students in grades 9-11 will not be assigned homework or projects the night before, nor will they have other course assessments on this day as we want them to be well rested. Students must bring their HISD issued Chromebook as the testing is digital and requires a specific app already available on their device. Students will not be allowed to use their personal laptops for this assessment. As a reminder, our cafeteria begins serving breakfast at 7:00am. Students should check the Canvas calendar and announcements so they know what room they've been assigned.

Students should also open the bluebook app on their Chromebooks to ensure they have access. Completing this step now will help avoid any technical issues during testing. Thank you for taking care of this!

Students are you interested in taking an AP Exam for a course in which you are NOT enrolled? If YES, then we can make that happen. Begin by navigating to Schoolpay.com and pay the $99 fee for each test you wish to take. Bring your receipt to Dean Shargey in room 201 and she will guide you with the rest of the steps to get you all set for the test in May 2025.

This is a reminder to our student drivers, that the front parking lot is only available to students with a valid parking permit. At this time we are completely sold out of permits for the year. Students may inquire in surrounding lots for contract parking. Students are not allowed to park in parallel parking spots as these are reserved for visitor parking. Students, is someone parking in YOUR assigned parking spot? Take a picture of their vehicle and their license plate and send it to Ms. Tapia or Ms. Simon.  Students, be advised that students without a parking permit may be subject to a tow.

Parents dropping off or picking up their students must be familiar with the procedures we have in place (video). Please do NOT stop your vehicle to drop off students before the entrance driveway on Pressler. Once you enter the driveway continue into the parking lot where you may safely drop off your student. Please do not park in the numbered parking spots as  these are reserved for student drivers. Parallel parking spots are reserved for parents and visitors.

As the weather begins to change, we will experience temperature fluctuations in the building. We advise students to dress in layers, with Navy blue sweaters, sweatshirts, and jackets. Please refer to the dress code located in the student handbook to make sure students remain in compliance.  And no, throw blankets are not part of the dress code, leave them on your bed.

Students you are responsible for checking your HISD email on Microsoft Outlook. We send you important information and updates daily. We encourage parents to sit with their student to go through their inbox or at the very least remind them to do so.
