This Friday is the last day for students to submit assignments for their Cycle 3 progress reports. Remember that Progress Reports are like a snapshot of your child's progress thus far. Students not earning at least a 70 may be assigned to a mid-day tutorial to help support them for the remainder of the cycle. Progress reports will be issued on Friday, December 6nd, but you can refer to HISD Connect for real-time progress of your child's academic progress. |

We have a faculty meeting after school on Tuesday, November 19th, therefore all after school tutorials and activities, except for Ms. Galloway's college apps session, are cancelled. All other students are expected to exit the building by 3:40 pm as teachers will NOT be available to supervise for after school activities. Please plan accordingly. |

I have another attendance update, this one from Ms. Whiting about students who return to school from a health care related appointments (i.e. doctor, dentist, or physical/emotional therapist). A student is absent from a class if they are not actually in school at the time attendance was taken. Please note that a student must be in class for 60 minutes out of a 90 minute class (or 35 minutes on C day classes). The absence is unexcused and requires the students to bring a note from the health care professional to Ms. Whiting in room 117 within 3 days of the absence.
Another attendance announcement, but this one from Ms. Niaves to students in danger of losing academic credit, she has emailed specific students with excessive absences to update them on their status—go and check your email! If you got an email stop by her office tomorrow to pick up your attendance letter, get a parent signature, and return it to her ASAP. Additionally, she's offering options to make up hours and avoid Saturdays! Opportunities include after-school tutorials, sessions with Mr. Caby, and morning/afternoon times with Ms. Niaves. |

On Monday, all students must complete the Device Care & Digital Safety course during homeroom if they have not already. Your homeroom teacher will verify that every student has completed this Canvas assignment. Students may not leave homeroom until this assignment has been completed. Students may choose to complete this assignment prior to homeroom. Check the Advocacy course in Canvas. |

This Friday is the last day before Thanksgiving Break! We wish you all a restful and refreshing week off. There’s no homework or major assignments due on Monday when you return, so enjoy the time to recharge! Before you leave, remember to clean out your lockers, remove stinky clothes and leftover food—we don’t want any unwelcome critters making themselves at home while we’re gone! Take home anything you’ll need over the break because the school will be closed all week, so don’t leave anything important behind. Have a wonderful break, and we’ll see you back on Monday, December 4th. |
