The Treble Choir of Houston at Christ Church Cathedral has been invited to participate with the Houston Chamber Choir in the world premiere recording of Circlesong by British composer, Bob Chilcott. Bob began his professional career as a member of the celebrated vocal ensemble The King’s Singers and has gone on to become one of the most frequently performed composers of our time. Circlesong is a cycle of prayers and poems taken from the writings of indigenous peoples throughout North America. The perspective and wisdom of Native Americans is powerfully conveyed in this 45-minute work scored for treble choir, mixed adult choir, two pianists and four percussionists.
Following performances at South Main Baptist Church (4100 Main Street) in midtown Houston on Saturday, February 22 at 7:30pm and Sunday, February 23 at 4:00pm, the choirs and instrumentalists will spend Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, February 24-26, recording the work for release on the distinguished English label Signum Classics.
