Summer Reading Programs!

Houston Public Library (HPL):

Students will earn a book just for signing up, and at each prize level they will earn another book and a badge to show off their success.  Students can earn even more prizes through weekly drawings and can participate in a number of in-person and virtual activities geared just for kids and teens.  There are prizes for the whole family too, so get everyone reading this summer!  Register, Read and Reap the Rewards @ www.houstonlibrary.org/fun.

myON:

Challenge your students to engage in reading this summer by participating in a customized reading challenge setup by each campus. Students simply have to login to myON through the HUB-Digital Resources to access and automatically log their reading.  School staff can run reports to highlight their myON reading superstars. Recognition varies by campus.  myON Summer Reading Toolkit for schools to customize: https://drive.google.com/file/d/11HgqvHndSoACSNwStZDHYCQt7tYrCT1y/view?usp=sharing

Scholastic:

The Scholastic Summer Reading program offers kids an exciting, free, and safe summer reading experience, while helping to provide books to kids with limited or no access overthe summer, keeping every child reading.  From April 26 - September 3, kids can visit the summer zone in Scholastic Home Base (www.scholastic.com/homebase), a free digital destination which offers stories, characters, games, and a community of readers. Home Base is moderated for safety 24/7.

Learning A-Z:

The Learning A-Z Summer Reading Challenge is a free program designed to be fun, engaging, and educational for your child.  Over the summer months, kids will continue to have access to Raz-Plus:

  • The Level Up Room: complete quizzes on your personal reading level books
  • The Reading Room: personal library for independent reading
  • Rewards: earn stars to decorate your avatar or rocket room

The school and student in each region with the highest number of minutes read will be rewarded.  The contest runs through September 6th. Get your information and reading logs here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1a5E_vrnLrQAQRF26eNz-2PaDade6NVdW?usp=sharing
