Senior Chosen as CW39 Class Act!
Brett Gu is ready to bring science to society as a Class Act
Brett Gu is the type of student that sees something and can’t wait to find out everything about the subject.
This past summer, the Carnegie Vanguard student spent time in chemistry labs at the University of Texas. His time in Austin helped him build the foundation for his project, “Electrocatalytic Oxidation of Hydrazine on Plantinum Nanoparticles.”
The project earned Gu a $1,000 award from the Intel Foundation.
Gu says this is the start of what he hopes will be an impactful life in the chemical engineering field.
“At the end of the day, I just want to be able to use my skills, my knowledge, and help solve some of the challenges or problems society is facing,” Gu said.
The high school senior has been accepted to Yale University, but is also considering Harvard, Princeton and Stanford.
