Alison Maillard
Freshman Alison Maillard competed in Junior Olympics West National Diving Championships April 10- 14. She holds the title of West National Champion (earning gold medal on 1m springboard and the bronze medal on 3m springboard). This qualifies Alison for Junior Olympic National Diving Championships in August in both events. Alison is one of the top three students in Texas and one of six in the US in her age group to prequalify to the Junior Olympic Diving Summer Nationals. Alison is being trained with the expectation of competing in the 2016 and / or 2020 Summer Olympics. Alison completed work for school while competing in diving and her transcript reflects mostly all A's and one B.
Ari Simmons
Sophomore Ari Simmons Ari is a serious fencer. As a matter of fact, I'd like to introduce you to the top teen fencer in the United States! Ari won a gold medal at the Junior Olympics in Baltimore last month and won a gold medal at an international fencing competition in Austria. Although very modest about his accomplishments, Ari competed in and won the World Championships for Fencing in Croatia as one of the top fencers in the world. Tournaments have taken him to France, Italy, Austria and Sweden. The challenge Simmons faces doesn't come from his opponents, but rather from trying to juggle his school work when competing internationally. Statistics shows that great fencers, high level international fencers, usually are great students. Of course, Ari's transcript this year illustrates just that with all As and Bs. In terms of competing in the 2016 Olympics, Ari says, "That would be great. That's every fencer's dream ... every athletes dream."
