Important Covid-19 Update

March 13, 2020

Dear Kinder HSPVA Families,

I know that you received communications from HISD regarding proactive measures within HISD as we continue to deal with the Coronavirus (COVID-19).  I wanted to write and give you specifics for our HSPVA community during the window of March 23 to April 3.

Travel Reporting

All HSPVA employees and students will be asked to complete the HISD Travel Reporting Form upon returning from spring break.  Students will be able to access the survey on the HUB with their laptops. HISD is requesting that this form be completed no later than Friday, March 27, 2020.

HISD asks that all HISD students, families, and employees take extra precautions when traveling and follow travel guidelines provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention at Coronavirus Disease 2019 Information for Travel website.

Campus Visitation Policy

Beginning Monday, March 23 through Friday, April 3, HISD will temporarily limit ALL campus visitors, including parents and volunteers. Parents will only be allowed on campus to pick up or drop off their student. If a parent meeting is scheduled at HSPVA, parents will be required to complete check in and check out in the first-floor office. Parent participation in Admission Review Dismissal (ARD) and Intervention Assistance Team (IAT) meetings will continue as usual, but visitors will be subject to screening. School Store volunteers will also be screened in the first-floor office.

Screening will include mandatory temperature screening and response to questions regarding recent travel and health-related symptoms. Teleconferencing is strongly encouraged during this time.

Campus-related Events

All HSPVA after-school activities and performances have been canceled for the window of Monday, March 23 through Friday, April 3.  We will communicate alternate plans for these events as they are finalized.

During the window of March 23 to April 3, an administrator will be on campus until 6:00 pm each evening.  Parents are asked to pick students up as soon as possible after school releases at 3:30 pm. Buses will run as usual for those needing transportation.

Absence Policy

HSPVA will continue to accept a written excuse from parents for student absences that may be related to precautions taken around COVID-19.

HISD currently has NO confirmed cases for COVID-19. If any cases are confirmed in HISD, we will notify you and let you know what actions are being taken as a result.

HISD and HSPVA are committed to keeping everyone updated and providing you with information as soon as we have it. Please know that the health and safety of our students and staff is our top priority and all decisions are being made with that in mind and in alignment with guidance from health and education officials.

Please continue to visit for additional information and updates. As always, thank you for your patience and understanding.
