Travis Mission
Our mission is to empower the whole child by providing a safe and respectful academic environment that cultivates critical and creative thinking, social consciousness, and initiative in each student.
Travis is a strong and active educational community committed to the development of the whole child. Literature, Gardening, Fine Arts experiences, and Field Studies enrich classroom learning. Travis places great value on parent involvement and we make every effort to bring families into the educational environment. Walking through the school, you will see parent volunteers working in various capacities. We have many evenings, such as Literacy Night and Fine Arts Night, that become an experience for the entire family.
Travis opened its doors in 1907, and over more than a century, many Houstonians have finished at Travis and gone on to make a difference in numerous fields in our city, and across the country. We are proud of the history and heritage that is Travis.
Travis is located in the Historic Woodland Heights neighborhood, just 2 miles north of downtown Houston. We are a Houston ISD school with a Magnet/Vanguard program. We believe in the potential of every child, and we want to make educational excellence an everyday experience for each child that comes through our doors.
