Telly Award-winning video by HISD Benefits
Benefits video producer wins Telly Award for inspirational video
Enrique Gonzalez, HISD Benefits director, producer, and editor, has won a Telly Award for his video of Deborah “Debbie” Holmes, mailroom attendant at the Hattie Mae White Educational Support Center. His video, “Debbie Never Stops,” won a 2020 Bronze Award for Excellence.
Gonzalez brings years of experience creating dynamic videos to portraying Holmes, who is an inspiration to all who meet her. You may see her power-walking before work or carrying boxes up three flights of stairs without breaking a sweat. Holmes astounded everyone at the first HMW Benefits Health Fair last summer when her biometrics revealed her excellent physical condition. At age 67, Holmes is in her second career, having retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier. Outside of HISD, she golfs, dances weekly with her partner, and volunteers extensively. Debbie’s advice is simply to stay active, a message that resonates with employees who want to get or stay in shape.
The Telly Awards were founded in 1979 to honor excellence in local, regional, and cable television commercials, with non-broadcast video and television programming added soon after. Presented annually, they showcase the best work created within television and across video for all screens. Gonzalez’s work was one of 12,000 entries from 50 states and five continents. The Telly Awards honor creative work by some of the most respected advertising agencies, TV stations, production companies and publishers in the world.
All entries are judged by members of the Telly Award Judging Council, made up of over 200 industry experts and prior Telly Award Winners. Judges evaluate entries against a high standard of excellence and winning entries are then awarded Gold, Silver, or Bronze awards based on the combined scores of evaluating judges.
HISD would like to recognize Deborah Holmes for her motivation, work ethic, and the way she inspires others to get and stay healthy. HISD would also like to recognize Enrique Gonzalez for his storytelling skills and video efforts. For both of these employees, the Telly is a great accomplishment, and one could not have been done without the other. Job well done, Debbie and Enrique!
