Remote Learning Week 7

Posted by Lucara Stewart on 5/11/2020

This week, students will learn about air masses, fronts, high and low pressure systems (including the formation of a hurricane) and how these affect local weather. By the end of the lesson, they should be able to interpret a weather map.

Because of the breadth of this week’s lesson, students will watch four videos (with built-in questions) on EdPuzzle to help them build their understanding of weather systems. They will then be assessed via Quizizz, an on-line review game or a Flipgrid video of them doing a weather forecast using guide questions.

Science learners will also have optional hands-on and enrichment activities that will count as extra credit. These will give them an opportunity to:

  • do the Cloud in a Bottle Experiment at home (a demo of how cloud formation works); and
  • navigate a website featuring a hurricane simulator (to help them understand more deeply what factors create a hurricane).

An overview of the lesson, the links to the assignments and to Teams Meetings can all be found on Google Classroom for Science.
