4-27-21 Upcoming STAAR, NJHS Applications, and May 28th Asynchronous Learning Day
Please take a moment to read the important information below.
Upcoming STAAR Testing
Our next round of STAAR testing begins next week. On May 4, all virtual and in-person Algebra students will take their Algebra End-of-Course exam at Pershing. This is a required test for graduation, so it is important that students are present to take the test. Students who are enrolled in Biology will take their Biology End-of-Course exam on May 5. Like Algebra, it is a required test for high school graduation. All other students will follow their normal daily schedule.
On May 6th and 7th, our in-person and virtual 8th graders will be taking their STAAR Science and STAAR Social Studies exams. All 8th graders are to report to campus to take these exams. 8th graders who are in Biology DO NOT have to report on May 8th for the STAAR Science since they took the Biology End-of-Course. All 6th and 7th graders will engage in asynchronous instruction at home. All 8th graders must be on campus by 8:30 a.m.
All in-person 6th, 7th, and 8th graders will take STAAR Math on May 11th and STAAR Reading on May 12th. All 6th, 7th, and 8th grade virtual students will engage in asynchronous instruction at home on May 11th & 12th. Any 7th and 8th grader who took the Algebra End-of-Course will also engage in asynchronous instruction on May 11th. All in-person students must be on campus by 8:30 a.m.
All virtual 6th, 7th, and 8th graders will take STAAR Math on May 18th and STAAR Reading on May 19th. All virtual students should arrive no later than 8:30 a.m. All in-person 6th, 7th, and 8th graders will engage in asynchronous instruction at home on May 18th and 19th.
All students reporting for testing will have their temperature taken prior to entering the building and will be required to wear a mask. Testing is generally over by 2 p.m. Virtual students may be picked up on Braes Blvd. beginning at 2:30 p.m. All in-person students are expected to remain on campus until 4 p.m.
It is critical that students who are engaged in asynchronous learning at home complete their assignments. This is how we will take attendance for those days. If you have any questions, please reach out to your child's counselor or grade-level AP.
National Junior Honor Society Applications
Current 6th and 7th graders may apply for NJHS. The applications are available in the main office or online at NJHS Application
May 28th Asynchronous Day
On May 28th all students will engage in asynchronous instruction at home. Teachers will report to campus to participate in professional development and planning. Like any other asynchronous day, attendance is based on students completing assignments in the HUB by 11:59 p.m.
I hope everyone has a great week!
