HISD Employees Honored for Successful Combined Charities Campaign
January 30, 2012
School campaign coordinators at various campuses and district offices who raised the most money during this year's Combined Charities Campaign were honored recently during an awards luncheon at Hattie Mae White Educational Support Center.
This year, HISD employees raised $494,795 in pledges during the annual workplace campaign. Participating employees had the chance to give money to more than 500 organizations, including the African Wildlife Foundation, American Cancer Society, and Star of Hope Mission.
"When we have the chance to give, we really see the hearts of Houston Independent School District employees," said HISD Community Relations Liaison Lawrence Allen. "We really appreciate everyone's hard work and generosity."
The schools and district offices that raised the most money during the campaign include Bellaire and Yates high schools, Dowling Middle School, the Middle Schools Office, Office of Special Education Services, the East Field Office, Community Services, and the Secondary Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment Department.
Bellaire High School raised the most money with $21,685 in pledges.
Many school leaders contributed their fundraising success to dedicated campaign coordinators who provided instructions for completing pledge forms, shared information about the charities, and collected donations.
