The Texas Black Expo will be hosting its annual summit for young people from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 16, and all HISD students are invited.
The event will take place in Hall A of the Brown Convention Center (1001 Avenida de las Americas, 77010), and there, attendees can speak with representatives from more than a dozen historically black colleges and universities.
Students can learn about the admissions process and financial aid. They will also have an opportunity to listen to presentations by motivational speakers Andre Johnson, Arthur L. Andrews, and Norris Williams.
Tickets go on sale Friday, May 4, and cost $10 each. They will grant ticket-holders access to both the youth summit and the entertainment that follows, including a battle of the bands, a performance by comedian C-Ray, a high-school step show, and a "Diva Dialogue" featuring celebrity panel members.
