Lamar falls to Allen in Texas 5A Div. I Title Game

Lamar vs. Allen
Lamar High School’s dream 2012 football season ended just short of a state title Saturday night at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas.

Facing Allen High School, one of the most highly regarded high school football programs in the country, the Lamar Redskins made a strong showing, tying the game at 21 points apiece in the third quarter.  But Allen pulled away in the fourth quarter and won the state title by a final score of 35-21.

The game marked the end of one of the best seasons by an HISD football team since 1992, when Yates played for the state title.  Lamar was undefeated heading into Saturday’s contest.  Earlier this month, Coach Tom Nolen was named 2012 Coach of the Year by the Houston Touchdown Club.
