A Few Words From Dr. James A. McSwain

Dear Lamar Students, Parents and Stakeholders,

I am writing to share important news with you – the families and community of Lamar High School.  Within the last weeks, I have been offered and have accepted the opportunity to become the Area Superintendent for the West region of the District.  Lamar High School is a part of the West Area. As you can imagine, it has been a very emotional decision-making process for me, but in the end, I feel that this is the right decision for Lamar High School and our students.  In this position, I will continue to work for the best interest of Lamar students and staff members.  The district will be forthcoming with information about the selection of a new leader.  In the interim, the Lamar Leadership Team will continue to make Lamar High School a great place for our students to learn.

I want to thank each and every one of you for your endless support and for entrusting me the opportunity to guide your children for the last twenty-one years.  I am honored to have been given the opportunity to be a part of the Lamar Community and I have developed lasting relationships with many of you.  I will cherish those memories and continued friendships and I will continue to support and care for the entire Lamar school community.

Sincerely,

James A. McSwain, Ed.D.
Area Superintendent - West
Houston Independent School District
