Sandy Hook Promise
Lamar High School and Houston ISD are working with Sandy Hook Promise to implement the Say Something Anonymous Reporting System (SS-ARS). According to Sandy Hook Promise, the system helps prevent violence before it happens through education for adults and youth on “how to recognize warning signs and signals of individuals who may be a threat to themselves or others” and a 24-hour hotline for submission of safety concerns. This will allow us to help provide at-risk individuals with the help they need. To use SS-ARS, all students and staff are required to be trained. This training will take place for some students in a live presentation on Monday, 3/18, and during advocacy on 3/20 for the entire student body. In order to accommodate the training, LCT will not run that day. Our modified advocacy schedule will be as follows:
- 1st period - 8:40 am - 9:25 am
- Advocacy - 9:32 am - 10:18 am
- 2nd period (No LCT) - 10:25 am - 12:00 pm
- 3rd period - 12:08 pm - 2:23 pm
- 4th period - 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm
