Some of you may be applauding the move, while I imagine there are others who find this to be an overreach.  I would like to provide you with the reasoning.  Consistently we have students using their backpacks to bring contraband onto campus.  Whether it is something seemingly harmless such as snacks to sell, or items strictly prohibited on school campuses, this becomes a multiplier for other issues such as thefts and fights. 

We have seen a significant decline in discipline issues over the last two weeks with a stricter policy around bags, and in light of the ever-growing concern for campus safety, we will implement the clear bag policy and strictly enforce the uniform policy. Students who bring items that are not in compliance with the dress code will be presumed to be donating the items to a local charity.
