Dear HISD Families,

HISD is an open enrollment district where a family can apply to any school in the district that meets a student’s needs. The School Choice process allows families to choose among hundreds of neighborhood and specialty school options in a single application.

Visit Campuses to Learn more! Visit magnet schools each Thursday, beginning October 10th. You are welcome to tour any HISD Magnet school during these dates and times. Please contact individual schools before visiting to sign up for the tour.

• October 10th-February 6th
• Elementary and K-8 schools at 9:00 a.m.
• Middle and High schools at 1:00 p.m.

K-12 Application Timeline

School Choice Fairs: The School Choice Department will offer 4 opportunities for families to meet with school staff various magnet and school choice programs from across the district. Parents will receive real-time application support during the School Choice fairs. These fairs showcase magnet and other select programs in one place for parents to learn about them, with one additional fair held in the Spring for programs with space available in Phase 2.

• All fairs will be hosted on the following Saturdays from 9am -12pm:
  • 11/16: Milby High School, 1601 Broadway St., Houston, TX 77012
  • 12/14: Washington High School, 4202 Yale St., Houston, TX 77018
  • 11/11: Westside HS High School, 14201 Briar Forest Dr., Houston TX 77077
  • 2/8: Lamar High School, 3325 Westheimer Rd., Houston, TX 77098
