Humphrey!
Posted by Ms. Woodford on 4/9/2022 8:25:00 PMWe have been reading the Humphrey book series in class together and the students have really been looking forward to finding out what's next in Humphrey's classroom adventures. The first book in the series is called The World According to Humphrey. We are currently in the second book called Friendship According to Humphrey. These are great books to encourage a love of reading with your first grader as they move towards second grade. These would also be great books for them to read this summer to keep up their reading skills. For more information on this series visit this link: Humphrey Book Series.

Great educational resources
Posted by Kimberly Woodford on 9/11/2021 12:00:00 PMHere are some educational book resources that are workbook/worksheet related. These workbooks can be purchased on Amazon. These would be a great compliment to your child's learning at school and would help them to get ahead/stay on track. These are purely extra/optional work to help your child with basic skills that will help them learn first grade content in the classroom.
The first two workbooks I recommend getting first to compliment your child's learning at home. The Jolly Phonics workbooks are what I am using in class to support phonics instruction and letter sound recognition. If you look up Jolly Phonics and the letter that you're working on, on Youtube, it will play the song and motion that goes along with that letter. This is a great way to help your child remember the letter sound through hearing, motion and sight.
1. Brain Quest Workbook: Kindergarten Paperback – July 1, 2008
2. Brain Quest Workbook: Grade 1 Paperback – July 1, 2008
3. Jolly Phonics Student, Book 1 Paperback – Abridged, January 1, 2010
The following are additional workbooks that can compliment your child's learning in school:

Jolly Phonics Student Book 3 (Colour in Print Letters) Paperback – June 1, 2010
