  • HISD Title I, Part A Parent and Family Engagement Survey, 2020–2021

    Thank you for taking the time to complete the 2020–2021, HISD Title I, Part A Parent and Family Engagement Survey. The purpose of this annual survey is to see how well your child’s school partners with you and encourages your family’s engagement in your child’s education. The survey should take approximately 10 minutes to complete. Your feedback is anonymous. For your voice to be heard, you must submit this survey on or before May 7, 2021 for your child’s school. If you need assistance in completing this survey, please reach out to the Title I campus contact person at your child's school. Please remember: If all your children attend the same school, you only have to complete one survey. If you have children that attend different schools, you must complete a new survey for each different school.

    Encuesta sobre la Participación de los Padres y la Familia 2020 ­­­­̶ 2021

    Gracias por dedicar un tiempo a llenar la encuesta de Participación de los Padres y las Familias del Programa de Título I, Parte A, 2020–2021 de HISD. El propósito de esta encuesta anual es saber hasta qué punto la escuela colabora con usted de manera eficaz y motiva a su familia a ser partícipe de la educación de su hijo. La encuesta le tomará unos 10 minutos, y sus aportes son anónimos. Para que su voz cuente, debe enviar la encuesta sobre su escuela a más tardar el 7 de mayo de 2021. Si necesita ayuda para completarla, comuníquese con el personal de Título I de la escuela de su hijo. Recuerde: si todos sus hijos asisten a una misma escuela, solo tendrá que completar una encuesta. Si tiene hijos que asisten a diferentes escuelas debe completar un encuesta para cada una de sus escuelas.

    Sutton Elementary School Principal, Beatrice Akala

    Beatrice Akala has been selected as principal of Sutton Elementary School July 2019. She began her career in Education as an English teacher in Kenya before moving to the United States. In the U.S., she started her career as a prekindergarten through fourth-grade teacher in private school. For the last fourteen years, she has served at HISD in various capacities, including as an ESL teacher at Sam Houston High School, teacher development specialist, assistant principal, and dean of instruction at Wisdom High School. As a member of the instructional leadership team at Wisdom, the school earned four distinctions in ELA, math, science and social studies. She holds a bachelor’s in Education from Moi University Kenya, a master’s degree in Education from the University of Houston, a master’s in Human Resource Management from Walden University. She is also currently working on a doctorate’s in Education at North Central University.
