Westside Welcomes New Principal

Dr. Alisa C. Zapata began her career with the Houston Independent School District in 1995 as a mathematics teacher and went on to serve multiple schools within the district as assistant principal and principal until 2013. Most recently, Dr. Zapata has dedicated her time and service to districts both in Texas and out of state at the central office level. She has worked diligently to increase student academic growth and provide learning opportunities to prepare students for life. Dr. Zapata graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction. She earned her doctoral degree from Texas A&M Commerce in Educational Administration.  

Principal Zapata is very honored to serve as the leader of the Westside High School community. She is motivated by the guiding principle of one of her mentors, “We must treat and educate our students as if they are our own children.” Dr. Zapata will keep this belief at the core of her work as she leads Westside High School to THRIVE!
