Building a path to success
John V. Aleman, Principal
Welcome to Petersen Elementary, a proud campus to become part of Houston ISD's New Education System! We are excited to welcome and serve the Petersen Family and look forward to the many achievements which lie before us.
After 18+ years in the financial industry, Mr. Aleman answered the call to serve families and communities in a greater capacity as a 7th and 8th grade ELA Instructor in Pearland ISD. As a product of Houston ISD, he recognized the value in returning to his roots and assumed his first administrative role as an assistant principal and member of the A180 Turnaround team at Philis Wheatley HS in Houston's Historic 5th Ward. Since then, he has continued to serve as an assistant principal at James Madison HS (Houston), and most recently G.C. Scarborough HS (Houston).
Mr. Aleman received his bachelor's degree in history, with a minor in Religious Studies, from Arizona State University and his master's degree in Educational Leadership from Lamar University (Beaumont). With the understanding that access to a great education is imperative as the bare necessities of life, Mr. Aleman stands firm in his belief that,"The loss of a child's hope and faith is the loss of infinite possibilities. Therefore, bring us your challenges and we will show you paramount success."
