It is an honor and a privilege to serve the near northside community. I was lucky enough to graduate from Northside High School and hold this community close to my heart. I began my career in education in 2007, as a middle school math teacher. After several years of teaching, I was presented an opportunity to become a math coordinator at Lawson Middle School. During my time at Lawson, I wanted to expand my knowledge on school leadership. I decided to attend the University of Lamar for a career in school administration. After graduating, I was presented with an opportunity to become an assistant principal in the South region of HISD. I have been fortunate to work as an assistant principal in the East region as well and made it to principal at Clemente Martinez in 2019.
I instantly fell in love with the school, staff, and learning community. I have made it my goal to provide our students with the highest quality of education, this means providing our scholars with high capacity teachers and engaging and meaningful lessons. During my time at Clemente Martinez, we have been able to accomplish several things to improve the quality of education and enhance the learning environment for all. We successfully created a Young Men’s Society where we mentor our young males and provide them guidance and leadership opportunities around the school. We have also partnered with Hopestone to provide our scholars the opportunity to experience the fine arts. Our scholars are now able to take piano, violin, theater, and photography classes. Our partnership with St. Marks, has yielded positive results, our scholars are now able to check out books in the library with two volunteer librarians, twice a week. We have also partnered up with Friends of Northside to provide afterschool tutorials for our scholars. But our work is not done yet, we will continue to push the needle and will not stop until Clemente Martinez is an A rated school. Thank you for taking an interest in us, I encourage you to email me if you have any questions.
