SDMC Minutes April 18, 2020
The April 2019 SDMC meeting was called to order at 12:00 p.m. by Dr. R. Scott Allen. The following members were present: R. Scot Allen, Lynley Cardenas, Elizabeth Coffey, Maria Gomez, Blanca Herrera, Paul Jarosz, Courtney Jones, Jonathan Klein, Terry Newell, Allen Otto, Carolyn Salazar, Brad Smith, Penny Strauss, Sean Tellez, David Waddell, Stacey White.
Dr. Allen welcomed all members to the meeting. The committee approved minutes for the February 2018 SDMC meeting as well as the agenda for the current meeting.
Old Business:
Budget 2019-2020 forecast still looks like we may lose 2-3 teachers. HISD will have a meeting in 2 weeks to see about next steps.
Modified TADS (M-TADS): HISD Board will vote to approve changes that we discussed and completed the survey on at the last meeting.
New Business
2019-2020 Waivers- Two waivers were distributed and discussed. The Kinder HSPVA Faculty approved 2 out of the 3 waivers at the April Faculty Meeting. Deciding to keep Early Dismissals. Motion to approve the Health Course and Pass/Fail Waivers by SDMC committee member, Terry Newell. Motion was seconded by Stacey White. SDMC committee voted to approve the two waivers.
2019-2020 Calendar Committee received the new Academic Calendar.
Dr. Allen thanked the committee for their service for the 2018-2019 school year.
The meeting was adjourned at 12:30 p.m.

- Safety Measures i. Staff screening, student temperatures, wellness team, isolation room, no visitors, mask wearing, limit students per classroom, regular cleaning of high touch areas, plexiglass barriers, mobile hand sanitizing stations, signage in the building
- Instruction i. Blended learning, live whole/small group will continue on Teams, asynchronous via HUB, daily playlist, weekly grades
- Arrival/Dismissal
- i. Temperature screening starts at 7:10
- ii. Walkers/Bus Riders dismissed first (parents wait at gate), all other students in classroom (using app for carpool) d. Recess/Lunch i. 30-minute recess and 30-minute lunch
- 1. Lunch in the gym side of the cafeteria
- 2. Recess zones e. Exposure plan
- i. Phone call for exposure and letter for positive case at school. ii. If the building is closed, then all parents will be notified, and instruction will continue virtually. f. Questions i. Will all students of a class quarantine? No, only students within 6 feet for more than 15 minutes of a person that tests positive. ii. What about if teachers are sick? Leadership will cover classes as needed. iii. How many cases to shut down the school? 1 positive will require closure to clean the campus. iv. Tech? We still have outstanding requests, but district is working on it. Office staff is calling to double check with Face to Face families with home devices. We have updated internet and a full-time tech support. v. Grade level restroom plan? vi. Dismissal? 2:55 for walkers and carpool starts immediately after vii. Independent walkers?
