The School-Parent compact outlines the responsibilites that the school, parents, and students will undertake to ensure that an academically challenging environment takes place.
As a school, we will:
* Provide a safe, caring environment and facility that is conducive for learning
* Provide educational activities and materials that are appropriate for children’s needs and help them reach their full potential
* Provide highly qualified teachers that are well-prepared and equipped with strategies that will make learning fun, interesting, and engaging
* Provide a monthly newsletter and notices about school information
* Provide a student mid term progress report each nine weeks
* Meet the needs for physical activity
* Make sure that the students have breakfast and lunch
As a parent, I will:
* Get my child to school daily, unless he/she is ill or observing a state recognized religious holiday
* Provide a safe and caring environment
* Provide my child with appropriate school supplies to be successful
* Get my child to school on time between the hours of 7:30 – 7:45, (the tardy bell will ring at 8:00) and pick him/her up on time between 3:00 – 3:15
* Provide current emergency telephone numbers in case of illness or accident
* Provide a quiet place for study in our home so my child can read and study every evening
* Promote the importance of reading by reading to my child, listening to him/her read, and providing appropriate reading materials
* Communicate regularly with my child’s teachers
* Promote appropriate and adequate sleep habits allowing my child the doctor recommended eight to ten hours of sleep each night
* Provide a safe, supervised space for my student after school such as the After School Program
As a student, I will:
* Go to class on time every day and be prepared to learn.
* Demonstrate my best effort in class assignments and projects.
* Complete homework in a timely manner to the best of my ability
* Respect the culture, personal space, and property of others
* Respect and cooperate with all adults in the school
* Respect and cooperate with peers and other students in the school
* Spend time daily studying or reading
* I will inform an adult if I feel unsafe
* I will inform an adult if I am or see someone being bullied
* I will positively represent Petersen Elementary School both on and off campus
* I will treasure the gift of being a Petersen Tiger
