Bio of Principal Monico Rivas

    Monico Rivas Mr. Rivas

    Monico Rivas earned his B.A. in History degree from the University of Houston Main Campus in 1992, and later was awarded his MA Degree in Education, Administration and Supervision, from the University of Houston in 2003.
      Mr. Rivas has 18 years of experience in education with the Houston Independent School District. 

    Mr. Rivas was born in Mexico but grew up in Fabens, Texas a small farming town 29 miles east of El Paso. He came to Houston on track and academic scholarships in 1987 then decided to stay in Houston after graduation to work with colleagues and students from diverse backgrounds.  Some of his hobbies include trail walking, playing soccer, and reading biographies.


    Mr. Rivas became an educator because he wanted to help kids develop their skills and abilities so that they may pursue their personal and career goals.  Monico Rivas has been the principal of Liberty High School since the school first opened its doors in 2005.
