CIS brings the "Five Basics" into schools...

    1.  A one-on-one relationship with a caring adult.
    2.  A safe place to learn and grow.
    3.  A healthy start and a healthy future.
    4.  A marketable skill to use upon graduation.
    5.  A chance to give back to peers and community.

Programs at John R. Harris include social services referrals, tutoring with a University of Houston work study program, and parental involvement. Parenting classes are offered by the Community Family Center every Friday, throughout the school year, in the John R. Harris school cafeteria from 8:30 A.M. - 10:00 A.M.  John R. Harris CIS is also proud to offer Boy and Girl Scouts of America, volunteers, community partners, and field trips to our students.
CIS partners with agencies such as Depelchin for individual counseling, the Community Family Center for their self-esteem program, and the Family Services of Greater Houston Ensuenos Program.
