The Home Instruction Program for Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY) is a program implemented at J. P. Henderson Elementary. HIPPY teacher parents of three, four, and five year old students how to encourage and develop their child's potential. HIPPY teaches the parents how to teach their children. In lessons that last 15 - 20 minutes per day, parents learn to read with their child and ask comprehension questions, how to teach counting and grouping, learn sounds and increase vocabulary. Through the HIPPY program, parent become very active participants in the education of their preschool child.
