Book of the month
  • The Principal’s Book of the Month is a school-wide initiative to foster a love of reading in ALL stakeholders.  Each month our principal, who is an avid reader, selects and introduce a book to the school community. All teachers and staff feature the book and design tasks or projects to engage scholars in the literature. This school year Mrs. Wilkins will select 10 books that will emphasize a message, celebrate diverse cultures, and/or pormote good citizenship. The goal of the program is to help our scholars to build their reading comprehension, vocabulary, and love of reading & books. Happy Reading!!

  • School's First Day of School

    by Adam Rex Year Published:

It's the first day of school at Frederick Douglass Elementary and everyone's just a little bit nervous, especially the school itself. What will the children do once they come? Will they like the school? Will they be nice to him?

The school has a rough start, but as the day goes on, he soon recovers when he sees that he's not the only one going through first-day jitters.
