Mrs. Riley
  • About Mrs. Riley

My name is Iysha Riley and I am the middle and high school Counselor for Mickey Leland College Preparatory Academy. I taught at MLCPA for 5 years as a middle and high school English teacher before making my transition to the role of Counselor.

As a school counselor, my primary responsibility is to be an advocate for students and work collaboratively with them as well as parents, teachers, and administrators to promote their academic, personal, and social/emotional development.

My involvement with the students will take place in several ways. Counseling activities can include individual or small group counseling, assistance with individual student planning, classroom guidance lessons, and school wide prevention and awareness programs.  Many of these activities will focus on helping students learn ways to build positive social skills, gain confidence in their ability to interact with others and learn ways to deal with problems and conflicts constructively.

I am, also, available to meet with parents to discuss specific concerns or to serve as a liaison for families needing community resources.

Please feel free to contact me at (713) 226-2668 or iysha.riley@houstonisd.org, if you have any questions or concerns.

I look forward to a great year!
