Teacher of the Year
Celia Palacios
Hello! My name is Celia Palacios, and I am a 5th-grade Dual Language Teacher. Before becoming a classroom teacher, I began my career in education as a teaching assistant at various levels. I am a proud HISD alumni, having graduated from Sam Houston High School (now Houston MSTC). I graduated from the University of St. Thomas-Houston with a degree in Education focusing on Bilingual and Dual Language Education. As an educator, I enjoy collaborating and working with others. I believe that all children are unique, and my role is to help them develop their own potential and learning styles. Always bring a positive attitude and high expectations to the classroom. I also enjoy learning new things because I am always adding to my teacher's toolbox. When I am not in the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, or you may find me shopping.

Vanessa Trejo
Hi! My name is Vanessa Trejo. I am one of the 2nd-grade dual language teachers. I am a Houston ISD product, from elementary to high school, even throughout my university years, through a scholarship. I graduated from the University of Houston, becoming the first in my family to have a degree. My most important goal is to create a family of learners in the classroom. I am committed to creating a classroom environment where every child is valued, trusted, and, most importantly, safe. Outside the classroom, I enjoy reading and spending time with my family.
